The weather is warm, it's less than two months until the primary, and it's time to talk to our neighbors about the amazing progressive candidates who will make our city work for everyone! Persist Brooklyn is launching a weekly canvass starting this Sunday. Now's the time to get in a weekly rotation with Persist BK - we've got weekly phone banks, postcarding, and canvassing so you can make your mark on this election. Also launching this week - The Media Accountability Squad, a new arm of our Media & Democracy Working Group! Join us this Sunday to get in on planning how to counter the dominance of right-wing lies in the media. See you online & at the doors, PBk

SAT MAY 15th 7:30-9:30 PM ET: Documentary screening: "People You May Know" with director Q&A
Join Persist Brooklyn's "Media and Democracy Working Group" for a group screening of the alarming documentary that exposes the abuse of "Big Data" and the dangerous political alliance among religious fundamentalists, oligarchs, and Cambridge Analytica's shell companies that have fundamentally shifted the balance of politics in the United States. Learn more about a software company that has created a micro-targeting platform for US churches, whereby vulnerable people, the poor, the grieving, the addicted are targeted and radicalized into far-right politics. Trailer here.
We will stream the documentary together, followed by a Q&A with one of the directors. Then our group will brainstorm ways to use the information from the documentary in our civic engagement and fight for our democracy.
