SAT MAY 15th 7:30-9:30 PM ET: Documentary screening: "People You May Know" with director Q&A
Join Persist Brooklyn's "Media and Democracy Working Group" for a group screening of the alarming documentary that exposes the abuse of "Big Data" and the dangerous political alliance among religious fundamentalists, oligarchs, and Cambridge Analytica's shell companies that have fundamentally shifted the balance of politics in the United States. Learn more about a software company that has created a micro-targeting platform for US churches, whereby vulnerable people, the poor, the grieving, the addicted are targeted and radicalized into far-right politics. Trailer here.
We will stream the documentary together, followed by a Q&A with one of the directors. Then our group will brainstorm ways to use the information from the documentary in our civic engagement and fight for our democracy.
